Sydney Sage is an Alchemist, one of a group of humans who dabble in magic and serve to bridge the worlds of humans and vampires. They protect vampire secrets—and human lives.

In The Fiery Heart, Sydney risked everything to follow her gut, walking a dangerous line to keep her feelings hidden from the Alchemists.
Now in the aftermath of an event that ripped their world apart, Sydney and Adrian struggle to pick up the pieces and find their way back to each other. But first, they have to survive.

For Sydney, trapped and surrounded by adversaries, life becomes a daily struggle to hold on to her identity and the memories of those she loves. Meanwhile, Adrian clings to hope in the face of those who tell him Sydney is a lost cause, but the battle proves daunting as old demons and new temptations begin to seize hold of him. . . .

Their worst fears now a chilling reality, Sydney and Adrian face their darkest hour in this heart-pounding fifth installment in the New York Times bestselling Bloodlines series, where all bets are off.

I have been hooked on this series since Dimitri caught Rose. This book is amazing, I was so impressed with how this second half is as good as Vampire Academy was. This is the darkest of the Bloodlines books, seeing as how most of the book finds Sydney under the watch of the Alchemists.

Sydney was captured at the end of the last book and taken to re-education. She has to dig deep to stay strong while she hopes that Adrian is working just as hard on the outside to find her. Her family betraying her was hard, but being trapped is harder.

Adrian is losing faith that he will ever find Sydney. After his mom is let out of prison, she comes to take him back to Court. But Adrian is about to learn that life isn't what he thought it was. He finds companionship with another spirit user, but is he trying to fill the hole with a new person? The depression is creeping back, and it might take his true friends to save him from himself.

Sydney realizes that maybe everyone has given up on her. Or is it something else? She has no idea how long she has been there, but its time to shake off the magic when her dream gives her a ray of hope. This book has you going through every emotion as you feel the sorrow, hope, fear, and joy of the characters. Always filled with epic fights and heroic actions, this book in the series lives up to the ones before! And the ending will have you jumping out of your skin and threatening to fling your book across the room while a scream of protest flies from your lips. I love this series and cannot wait for the sixth book to come out! Grab this one and hang on tight to something. Its quite a ride
