Marion N. Seidel

Marion N. Seidel was born in Dusseldorf, Germany, where she started as young child to take riding lessons. In 1976 she had the opportunity to become an apprentice jockey and was introduced to the sports of horse racing for the first time. During her 3 year apprenticeship to become a jockey, she had to learn pretty much everything around and about the race horse; but was never able to compete as jockey in races, due to weight issues. She still worked as exercise rider for many years at different outfits in Germany and later in France. Over the years she acquired a degree in business management and worked for different companies, but always returned to the race track to work with horses, before she moved to the U.S. in 1992. Here she worked as exercise rider at a Florida race track, while learning her way around the differences between the European and American way of how this business works. She left the race track in 1995 to raise her daughter, but never lost her love and the ability to work with horses, while working in a different line of business to earn her income. She did acquire her trainer's license, but does not work active in horse racing anymore, although she still works with thoroughbreds.

Review Divider

This story starts from the day he is born, a brand new baby horse with his whole life ahead of him and all he wants to do is have a care free life but in life we don't always get what we want and that includes animals.

Sonny is abused by different owners until one day his savoir comes and takes him away from all the bad things in his life. I cried during the book because of the way people treated Sonny. No animal should ever be treated as bad as Sonny was but at the end is where his life gets turned around for the better.

If you love stories about horses and can handle what Sonny tells you what he went through, I do believe you will fall in love with him and you will be routing for him! I know I was right from the beginning.

I can't wait to read more from this author.
