Review

This is such a great book.  It keeps you on the edge of your seat with all the twist and turns. I couldn't put this book down.  I read it it one night. I loved the friendship between Katherine and Jess.  They are more like sisters then friends. This started out as a love story until tragedy strikes. Katherine gets her heart broke. It takes her years before she dates again. This book has love, heartbreak, romance and plenty of twist and turns. It has one heck of cliff hanger.  It is a must read. I can't wait until the next book comes out.
 I give it 5 stars.

I’m a wife, a mom and a dog lover. I’m also a taxi, problem fixer, extreme multi-tasker and my kids biggest fan in anything that they do. I love to write, so when my career suddenly turned into a job that I hated I turned back to my love of writing. I married my high school sweetheart… how cool is that? Margaritas and sarcasm make me happy. Chocolate makes that happiness grow exponentially. People who make me laugh are my favorite kind of people. I believe Karma is a bitch who slaps back hard and that mean people suck. I’m California born and raised, I love the beach but hate the sand. Breaking Kate is my first novel and is part of The Acceptance Series.

Review Tainted Bodies by Sarah Robinson

Tainted Bodies is a great book full of mystery, romance, suspense, and crime.Kate was a young woman with a troubled childhood. Kate meets Derrick and fell in love with him. Then a violent crime happens that tests their love. I liked how Sarah made Derrick out to be the perfect guy only to find out he is just a regular guy that makes mistakes.  The author made you feel you were right there in the story with the characters.  My heart broke for Kate but she is very strong. I loved this book. I read it in one night.

Review The Locket by Lance Hodgdon

The Locket

When Maggie Snow slipped the locket around her neck, she didn’t realize that she would open her world to a beautiful specter who would, with one crook of her finger, ensnare her heart and lead her on a journey of love, rape, and redemption that would expose her family for the sham that it was, and lift her heart with a love that would transcend life itself.

Lance HodgdonHello! My name is Lance Hodgdon and I am a storyteller. I don’t know why that is. It is just a part of me that I can no longer deny. Not that I ever tried all that hard to deny it, but now, late in my life, I have decided to embrace that fact rather than relegate it to the back shelf where I put all unimportant things in my life. I am also a teacher, a retired teacher, I should say.

My journey, thus far, has been fairly uneventful, but that’s not to say I am disappointed with my lot. I grew up in a small town in Western, Maryland. My father, who was a biology teacher, would often take me camping with some of my friends at one of the many state parks in Garrett County, Maryland, usually New Germany State Park. While camping, we spent each night clustered around the campfire, listening to stories my father would tell us, usually about his life as a boy in Maine. Those stories fueled my imagination and during the day, my friends and I spent the day acting out the stories that had so enthralled us the night before. When not camping, my friends and I would often gather together on a summer night and tell each other our dreams from the night before. Scary nightmares were much preferred, the scarier the better. If the dreams were not eventful enough, however, we turned to our imaginations to spice up the story, as it were.

Those days are long gone, but I can still recall some of those stories. Years later, as a high school English/journalism/yearbook teacher, those stories morphed into new tales that were told to my classes every Friday, the last 20 minutes of class. These stories were told serial fashion, and often continued on for several months. Many of these stories you’ll be reading on my blog. I plan to continue with this tradition of storytelling here, so feel free to revisit this site and make comments. Hope you enjoy the stories.

The Locket is two great love stories and a great mystery in one book! Maggie Snow and her friends were typical teenagers. It really took me back to my high school years and remembering the friendships I made. This is a must read! I really hope there is a sequel to this book. I want to know what happens to the characters that were reunited and the ones that made Maggie so unhappy. This book is a great young adult book. It is an easy read full of love, mystery and true friendship. I can't wait for more!!!

Review Dream by Kyra Selby

He dreamt of her for years...
She heard his voice in her most desperate of times...

The last thing seventeen-year-old Ava Evans needed was boy trouble. Moving from the bustling New York City to a small town in Oklahoma, all Ava wanted was some peace. Not the glare of certain dark eyes. But this wasn’t just any typical teenage boy trouble. This was downright bizarre and though she would never admit it aloud, intriguing.

And charming and popular and not too bad on the eyes. Yes, eighteen year-old Miles Greyson seemed to be your typical All-American boy, beloved by his many friends and the residents of the small town he lived in. And he got along with just about anyone and everyone.

…Except Ava. Their first disastrous meeting ending in a bloody nose and a trip to the hospital leaves Ava thoroughly confused. Because Miles seemed to hate her even before all that. Upon first glance to be exact.

Trying to navigate the nefarious world of high school with mean girls, new friends, and awkward unrequited crushes, Ava begins to slowly unravel the mystery that is Miles Greyson while doing her best not to get distracted by Miles himself.

All the while Miles is unraveling her, leading them both to a startling revelation that changes everything. Impossible dreams, enchanting feelings, and the whisper of a magical wish...

Young Adult and Older Recommended

I loved the characters in this book.My favorites were Ava and Miles.I felt sorry for Ava. She lost both parents and had to move to another state at age 17. She met a great grop of friends. She fell in love with a young man named Miles. He had also lost his parents. Miles kept pushing Ava away and I was afraid the might have been distant kin. It turns out Miles had dreamed of her for years and Ava had actually heard him. What a great young love story!

Deja Moo

18683414
One year after her beloved sister drowned while swimming in cold New England waters, sixteen-year-old Brandi Vine is still struggling to understand what happened. As she mourns on the rocky beach where her sister's lifeless body washed ashore, she is unaware that a pair of haunting gray eyes is watching her from beneath rolling ocean waves.

When Brandi attends a party that goes horribly awry, the mysterious owner of the gray eyes emerges from the ocean depths and comes to her rescue. She only sees him for a few brief moments, but that's all it takes to turn Brandi's world upside down. What were the strange markings on his neck that seemed to flutter with every breath? How did he possess such inhuman strength and grace? And why did he look at Brandi with such longing?

Brandi's fascination with the Swimmer grows. She makes it her mission to find him again and learn who - and what - he is. Meanwhile, the Swimmer’s fascination with Brandi compels him to leave the safety of the ocean behind, to be with her at all costs. They are from two different worlds, but neither of the star-crossed romantics can resist the pull of the other.

Ultimately, as her feelings for the Swimmer swell beyond her control, Brandi comes to realize that the strange young man from the sea can unlock the secret of her sister's final swim.

This was a very moving story that kept me on the edge of my seat. It's a story of healing that will capture your heart. The main character, Brandi Vine had just lost her sister. The story tells how Brandi and her family dealt with the loss of their family member. Brandi was my favorite character. She was an adventurous teenager. There were a great deal of unexpected and complicated plots. I have to admit when I got to the part where Brandi met a merman, I almost stopped reading. I'm so glad I didn't. There were so many surprises leading up to the end!I did like this young adult Novel. It was full of mystery and suspense.

REVIEW - Unstoppable (Truth and Love Series by Bethany Hensel

Unstoppable (Truth and Love Series)

Unstoppable tells the tale of young, intelligent and handsome Derek Archer, whose life is finally beginning. He’s just about to graduate from high school, land the job he’s always wanted, and move in with the girl he’s always loved, Victoria. There’s no reason for him to question or want for anything…until the day Victoria’s father is shot and killed, setting off a devastating, heartbreaking chain of reactions.

Now, the race is on, and Derek has only three days to right a terrible wrong. With the help of a childhood friend with a penchant for high-tech espionage, they investigate every lead, never imagining their search would take them deep into the heart of a seemingly perfect family, where old ghosts, bitter lies, and agonizing betrayal all collide. It’s then, with the lives of everyone he holds dear in the balance, Derek discovers just how unimaginable the truth can be…and how unstoppable.

Full of twists and turns, this breathtaking story is The Bourne Identity meets Baz Lurhmann's Romeo and Juliet...expect action, expect danger, expect love.

Unstoppable, by Bethany Hensel is a story about a young man Derek Archer, who has finally had it all. The perfect job, the perfect place to live, and the perfect girlfriend. The same night he had it all it came crashing down, His girlfriends father was killed and he set out on an adventure to right the wrong. This book has it all, danger, thrills and most of all love. The book was written in past, future and now. That gives a good solid background into all the characters and their backgrounds.
