Beautiful Laurie Dodd was perfectly happy with her life. Raised by her loving aunt, she was ready to discover life out on her own. A new town, a new teaching job, a new apartment, and new friends. Finding a new man was not on her list, especially not one with the reputation of a player.
Rob McDonald, a local firefighter, had grown tired of one-night stands, but had no desire to be paired with the new woman in town. Until he met her. One look was all it took and Rob knew that Laurie was the one for him, but he was going to have to work to convince her that he was a changed man. One that was worthy of her.

A fire at the elementary school brought them together, but illness and deceit threatened to tear them apart.
Will Rob be able to find the missing pieces of Laurie’s past to help her fight for her future?

Will Laurie be able to forgive Rob’s deceit in order to have a future with him?

I am an avid reader of romance novels, often joking that I cut my teeth on the old bodice rippers.  I have been reading and reviewing for years.  In 2013, I started the book blog, Lost in Romance Books and promoted indie authors, as well as beta read, basic editing and proofing books.   In 2014, I finally gave in to the characters in my head, screaming for their story to be told.  From these musings, my first novel, Emma’s Home, The Fairfield Series Book 1 was born.

I am a high school counselor having worked in education for thirty years.  I live in Virginia, having also lived in four states and two foreign countries.  I have been married to a wonderfully patient man for thirty two years and am the mother to two adult daughters.  When writing, my dog or one of my four cats can generally be found in the same room if not on my lap.

Laurie lost her mother and grandmother at the as of 12 her Aunt Emma (book 1)stepped up to raise her.
This story begins when Laurie moves to town and is spotted by Rob a local fireman. Rob really likes what he sees but she leaves the store he figures he will never see he again and goes on with his player lifestyle.
Then he meets Laurie and they decide to be friends and take things slow.

Laurie is a elementary school teacher and there is a fire in the school her room is closest to the source of the fire, she works with Rob to save her students but is afraid to do what it takes to save herself, in this situation they both begin to understand and get closer to each other, girls from Rob's past try to draw them apart and Rob starts to fear that however Laurie sees Rob for the man he is now not the one he was. But Laurie didn't know her father growing up but when an illness starts affecting Laurie Rob steps in to try and find her father without her knowledge.  This is book 2 in this series and I liked it better than book 1. I won this book and that being said 5 stars are not enough.
