Review-Unusual Awakening by ST Knowles

Discouraged, she stood there in tears, picking up her papers and throwing them in the trash. Her work had no organization, no numbers on her pages, just a child fulfilling a joy that she would put down and not pick up again.

When she became older, she joined the military for something different. In that time, she was able to explore many places and even met her husband in Iraq. After coming home, she started her family in Arizona and went back to school, earning a Master's degree in Adult Education and Training.   

 

 

 

 I initially purchased this series because I loved the covers. In this case the inside absolutely matched the outside. This is a fantastic start to what is sure to be a great YA paranormal series. Riley is a teenage girl who has been asked to step up and help her mother around the house and with her younger twin sites during her father's deployment. During his extended deployment, Riley begins to experience weird things such as seeing lights, hearing voices, and having nightmares. On top of trying to figure out what is going on she is still trying to be a normal teenage girl. Can not wait to read the next book in this series.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Review-Broken World by Kate L.Mary

Broken World by Kate L. Mary was so different than what I thought it would be. I do not usually read books that have anything to do with zombies. This is not a graphic book about zombies eating people (much, just a few scenes), it is more of how a group of people try to work together to survive zombies taking over. What would you do if the country was going on lockdown due to zombies? Would stay home and hide, or would travel cross country to try and be with loved ones? To Vivian, the choice is clear. She is going to find the little girl that she gave up for adoption, or die trying. Things start to get interesting when her car breaks down. Her new traveling partners are shady at best. They do, however, have just about everything you need for survival. They pick up more travelers as they work their way west. Can I just say “Man, oh man, I cannot wait for the next book to come out”! This was not a deeply romantic book. Feelings do start develop, but no graphics. It is about prejudices being put aside (sorta) while people work to stay alive. It shows that you do not have to like someone to be able to work with them. I give this book a 5 star rating because this book was exactly what it needed to be. What is that you say? It is a book that will have you quickly turning the pages to see what is going to happen next. It will have you gasping and hoping that the characters make it through. Do not be surprised to find yourself wanting to smack a couple of the characters.

 I loved this book! There are very few authors who can weave suspense, intrigue, sexy characters, and edginess into one book. The author does that so effortlessly in this book, I actually got mad when I reached the end. I was going to read a little at a time, but I ended up reading it cover to cover in one sitting. And it is a healthy book. Yet I still wanted more even though it was the middle of the night when I finished. This book is so good, I don't even have a word for it!

Deke Cane is an FBI agent being pushed out because of a terrible outcome to a mission. He was so traumatized from the losses, he is suffering from PTSD like symptoms. It destroyed his previous relationship with Timothy, yet they are still friends. He is wasting away in cyber hell monitoring social networks. When he finds some discrepancies in some reports, he is allowed to help on a case. The higher-ups are hoping he will screw this up so he can be fired, but one boss, Serah, has faith in him. He hopes it isn't misplaced. Ryan Griffiths is a rent boy trying to start over. One of his clients from the club he danced at is giving him a chance away from all that. He takes it because it will also help his friend Gina as well. They are roommates and work together at an organic grocery. Ryan had been involved in a death, but he only knew in his heart who had done it. He wanted the bad Russian involved to pay for it, but he knew no one would care about some dancer/rent boy. So he called in a false lead to the FBI. He hadn't heard anything for a couple of weeks, so he thought it was over. He finds out that he is a submissive, and he likes it. When he ends up interacting with Deke at the club, sparks fly. Too bad he can get close to the bad guy, Petrov, and likes it. Nothing good can come from that, right? As the trouble ramps up and becomes bigger than anyone expects, the plot thickens. How will this work out? Who all will die before it is too late? Can Deke survive this mission? Who is helping the bad guys and who can they trust? Will Ryan drop everything for the Russian? You have got to grab this book! Being Me by Lisa Renee Jones is the continuing story of the love affair between Sara and Chris. Man, just when you think they have it all going for them, life throws a curveball at them. Their main problems are the secrets that they keep from each other. They will both have to make compromises in order to make it work. I was so upset with both of them a couple of different times through the book, however, when the past starts to be revealed, you get a little better understanding as to where they are coming from.
The search for Rebecca is still ongoing as is the questions about Ella. One will be resolved. Nope, not going to tell you which one. You will have to read the book to find out. There is a cliffhanger at the end of the book, but do not let this stop you from getting it. I am so into this series that I have already started the next one.

This story gets a 5 star rating from me. It pretty much kept me at the edge of my seat and managed to have my emotions all over the place. Great job Lisa Renee Jones, great job.

Review Never Forgotten by Kelly Risser

Never Forgotten by Kelly Risser was not only a very good read, but also an emotional one. She has the ability to throw real world problems in with a little fantasy. This book drew me in from the first chapter. Meara is not your typical teenager. Her drama is not your typical teenage drama. 

What would you do if you found out that not only is your mom’s cancer back, but that you are only half human? If you are Meara, you start trying to find out who or what you are while trying to be there for your mom. My heart broke for Meara as she was hit with so many things at one time. I loved that Evan stood by her side through everything and tried to help her find the answers without thinking that she was crazy. I knew something was up with Ula, but it was not what I was expecting. If you want to know what I am talking about, you are just going to have to read the book. 

With the way the story ended, I am sure hoping that there is going to be a next book. I would like to see what happens now that Meara has made her final decision. I give this book 4 stars because it was just so good. I will be sure to snap up the next book if Kelly decides to write it.
